| Abed ready to bring it home |
|
IT IS TIME to break the shackles and remove the yoke which the current Government has placed around Barbadian necks for the past 13 years. And it is up to the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) and Taan "the action man" Abed to do so. At the opening of his constituency office at his home in Rendezvous, Christ Church, Abed, DLP candidate for Christ Church West, told party faithfuls why he was the man for the job. "The fortunes of the residents of Christ Church West took a positive turn when I was ratified as the candidate for this constituency. "I pledged then and I pledge now to be your best representative ever...[and] I promise representation across all social, ethnic, religious and political boundaries," he said. Abed said he got into politics due to his friendship with the late Errol Barrow and from a need to give something back to a country which has been good to him, as well as being a strong believer in DLP philosophy and policy. "The opening of my office here at my home is an indication of the oneness which I feel with my fellow residents of Christ Church West. I will bring home this seat for the DLP and climb the steps of Parliament as part of the victorious DLP Government coming soon," he said. The constituency office will be open from 9 a.m to 2 p.m from Monday to Friday and will have an "open door policy" for all constituents. "Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for change. A time for representation for all and not the selected few; a time to give you and your children hope for a brighter future; a time for fresh ideas to take Barbados forward; a time to restore decency and morality to our society; a time for good, honest governance; it is time to change to the DLP," he said.
